Independent Film Tax Credit Officially Launched to Support UK Talent

Independent filmmakers across the UK have been given a major boost with the launch of the government’s new Independent Film Tax Credit (IFTC).

The scheme offers a 53% expenditure credit for qualifying films with production budgets under £15 million. Designed specifically to support small and mid-sized productions, the IFTC is being hailed as a game-changer for the UK’s independent film sector.

Industry leaders say the initiative will make it easier for British filmmakers to raise financing, create jobs, and compete internationally. With the UK’s reputation for storytelling and technical talent, many hope the tax credit will unlock a new wave of original, homegrown films.
